Industry overview
Material options
Plastic injection mould manufacturers that also offer mass production services tend to have a list of standard materials. That said, most mould manufacturers in Europe can procure polymer granules from suppliers within the EU, or even from third countries if necessary.
Examples
- Polyethylene (PE)
- Polypropylene (PP)
- Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
- Polyoxymethylene (POM)
- Polystyrene (PS)
Brands
You can also use brand name polymers. Doing so ensures that the quality and parameters remain consistent, and you may also be able to rely on existing REACH test reports rather than paying for new lab tests.
- BASF: Ultradur® (PBT)
- BASF: Ultraform® (POM)
- Dupont: DuPont™ Vespel® polyimide
Biopolymers
Some European plastic injection mould manufacturers offer more sustainable materials. For example, Crea s.r.l in Italy offers injection moulding using 100% natural biotechnopolymer and wood composites.
ISO 9001
Even the slightest deviation from tolerances can render an injection mould useless. It’s therefore essential that the manufacturer has some form of internal quality management system in place. The most common quality management system in Europe is ISO 9001.
For example, All Thermoplast S.r.l. is ISO 9001 certified by UKAS.
Design services
Some plastic injection mould manufacturers can provide design support, in the sense that they can either help you create or adjust your CAD files or technical drawings.
Poland
SPLAST
SPLAST was founded in 1989 in Poland and specialises in using and manufacturing injection moulding to produce technical plastic parts. It supplies moulded plastic parts for the automotive, electronics, household appliances, cosmetics, and furniture industries. The company also makes moulds for use in its factories.
It uses moulding technologies and machinery such as dimensional optical scanners, multisensor measuring machines, and 3D printers. Their tool shop manufactures moulds such as multi-component moulds, injection gas moulds, and overmoulding technologies. It delivers its products around the world.
The company implements a quality assurance system to ensure that its manufactured products are of quality and meet customer expectations. Its certificates include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949.

CREA s.r.l.
CREA s.r.l. was founded in 1986 by two technicians with a lathe and a small injection press. Years later, the company has 17 injection moulding machines, internal software to trace moulds, and CNC machines to produce moulds.
The company has a mould manufacturing workshop with CAM software and machines such as die-sinking EDM machines, CNC machining centres, sharpening grinders, and drill presses. It uses its technology and machinery for plastic material injection moulding, and it is able to mould traditional plastic polymers and complicated materials such as PVDF and PEEK.
The company can produce small and large batches of finished products, as well as tumbling, shot peening, assembly, and packaging upon the customer’s request.
The company is ISO 9001 certified.
